Julien Munch
CEO Carrefour Romania
Julien Munch joined the Carrefour Group at the beginning of 2021. As CEO of Carrefour Romania, he focuses on further strengthening Carrefour’s top position in the local market and developing the omnichannel profile of the company, while relying on a strong team and his diverse background experience to best respond to the needs of the clients. Julien started his career in 2000 as an officer for the French Air Force, being active in France with international missions. Moreover, he has a strong experience in the financial public sector, having worked for the General Inspectorate of Finance from the Ministry of Economy and Finance in France, between 2013 and 2017. During this period, he collaborated with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and was a member of the board for Martinique Airport. The move to the retail sector occurred in 2017 when he joined the Fnac-Darty Group as a Store Manager in Montparnasse. After only two years, he took over the role of Director of the Fnac Paris Network and later joined Carrefour.
In Romania, Julien has accelerated the expansion process of Carrefour, consolidating the omnichannel model at the national level, with a network of more than 400 stores in all formats: hypermarket, market, express, and discounter, as well as a solid presence in digital through online shopping services with home delivery or Click & Collect: www.carrefour.ro and BRINGO & Glovo platforms. Under his coordination, the French retailer team streamlined the shopping session in stores, via the Carrefour app and the Self Service cash registers, being a supporter of the internal digitization process, and the professional development of over 15,000 Carrefour colleagues through dedicated projects. At the same time, in line with the global strategy Act For Food, Julien prioritized the localization pillar, expanding, together with his team, the footprint of national suppliers and Romanian producers.
